Business continuity add-ons

Extend and protect your hosted environment.

Add faster recovery, standby infrastructure, private connectivity and independent cloud-platform backup around the systems your team depends on.

Shadow serverA recent standby copy for fast recovery from day-to-day issues.
Disaster recovery serverA separate server option for longer outages or emergency failover.
Private network accessConnect office users to hosted servers through a private path.
Cloud platform backupIndependent backup for Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace data.

Recovery and continuity

Choose the right recovery layer for the outage you are planning for.

A shadow server reduces how far back you need to go after a recent problem. A disaster recovery server gives you somewhere separate to run when the primary server is unavailable.

Shadow server

A recent working copy of your server.

A shadow server keeps a recently refreshed copy of your VPS ready for fast recovery. It is useful when a bad update, failed change or configuration issue means the production server needs to return to a known working state quickly.

A shadow server supports fast recovery. It does not replace scheduled server backups, which remain the long-term recovery record.
Disaster recovery server

A standby server for longer outages.

A disaster recovery server gives your business a separate environment that can be brought online if the primary server is unavailable for longer than the business can tolerate.

This is best scoped around the application, users and recovery expectations, because each business has a different tolerance for downtime.

Shadow server

Best for a fast return to a recent working state after a day-to-day server issue.

Disaster recovery server

Best for keeping the business running during a longer primary-server outage.

Private connectivity

Reach hosted servers like they are part of your own environment.

Private network access helps teams use hosted applications that behave like internal systems, while IPv6 can be added where applications, partners or technical requirements call for it.

Extend your network

Connect office users to hosted servers through a private network path instead of treating every internal application as public internet access.

IPv6 networking

Add IPv6 addressing alongside IPv4 for applications, partners or integrations that require modern network addressing.

Scoped to your setup

We confirm the correct private-network design after reviewing the current office network, hosted workloads and access requirements.

Cloud data backup

Keep independent backup copies outside your SaaS tenants.

Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace need their own backup strategy. These services create an independent off-site copy for the mail, files and collaboration data users rely on every day.

Microsoft 365 Backup

Protect Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams data with immutable S3-compatible backup storage.

Google Workspace Backup

Protect Gmail, Drive and Shared Drives with an independent copy outside the Google Workspace tenant.

Identity and platform backup

Identity, configuration and tenant-level backup requirements should be scoped with your actual Microsoft or Google setup before quoting.

Questions answered

What to know before adding continuity services.

Is a shadow server the same as a backup?

No. A shadow server is a fast-recovery option refreshed on a regular cycle. It helps you return to a recent working state quickly, while scheduled server-level backups remain the longer-term recovery record.

How is disaster recovery different from a shadow server?

A shadow server is mainly for quick recovery from recent operational issues. A disaster recovery server is a separate standby environment that can be brought online when the primary server is unavailable for longer than the business can tolerate.

Can we add one add-on without taking the others?

Yes. Each add-on can be scoped separately. Most clients start with the gap that matters most first, such as recovery speed, standby capacity, private access or cloud-platform backup.

Are Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace backups included with VPS hosting?

No. These are separate services because they protect SaaS tenant data, not the VPS itself. They can be quoted alongside a VPS package or for a business that does not host a VPS with Technolutions.
